Albert Edward Lotis
67, of Lima, after a long illness at Shawnee Manor, at 7:37 p.m., June 2, 2018, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
Albert was born June 15, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the Late Albert Frank and Rose Marie (Murphy) Lotis. In 1973 he married Joan Jedlinski, who survives in Lima.
Al was a Vietnam Army Veteran; he served from 1967 to 1971, and was very proud of his time in the military. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 9142 Ottawa, V.F.W. Post #1275, Lima, and the American Legion, Lima. After his time in the military he had worked and retired from General Dynamics as a welder, and was a former Grand National Weightlifting Champion. Al had a love for motorcycles and was a proud owner of many over the years. He had many hobbies and passions some of which were going to the Casino, playing bingo with friends, taking care of his lawn, car detailing, and he loved attending movies and going out to dinner; especially at China Gate or Western Sizzlin. Al loved life and lived it to the fullest, but nothing was greater than the love he had for his children and grandchildren, especially Buddy and Grilie.
The family would like to express their thanks and Gratitude to the VA Hospital in Dayton and the wonderful and personalized care he received at Shawnee Manor. The family would also like to express their appreciation and gratitude to St. Rita’s Hospice, for end of life care, at Shawnee Manor.
He is survived by his daughter Holly (Larry) Archer, of Lima; two grandchildren Trey and Kylie Archer, of Lima; a step- son John Patrick Keith (Donna) Reinsel, of Pittsburgh, PA; three step- grandchildren Patrick, Luke and Grace Reinsel, of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister Barbara Nolle, of Pittsburgh, PA; a niece Jessica (Matt) Nolle Rebholz, of Pittsburgh, PA; and a sister-in-law Peggy (Jim) Henry, of Pittsburgh, PA.
He is preceded in death by a sister Rose Ann Lotis.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at The American Legion Post 96, 711 S. Shore Drive, Lima, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, V.F.W. Post # 9142- Ottawa, V.F.W. Post # 1275- Lima, the American Legion or the Alzheimer’s Association.
