Albert Niese

Albert G. Niese 82, died at 10:32 a.m. September 30, 2007, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born September 28, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio to Albert and Matilda Eck Niese, who preceded him in death. On June 1, 1949, he married Julianna M. Siebeneck, who died June 25, 2005. Mr. Niese retired in 1979 as a lineman from Nickel Plate Road, after 32 years. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and American Legion Post 96. He was a Navy veteran serving from December 23, 1943, to August 16, 1946, aboard a destroyer escort. Survivors include three sons, Michael (Elaine) Niese, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Donald (Sherri) Niese and Ronald Niese, both of Lima, Ohio; six daughters, Rose Ann (Lloyd) Minton, of Lima, Ohio, Patricia Niese, of Greenville, Marie Niese, of Lima, Ohio, Betty (Mike) Quigley, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mary Alice Niese and Barbara (Carl) Hambleton, both of Lima, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Anthony, Christina, Jessica, Nicole, Britney, Nathan, Meredith, Dalton, Matthew, Alexandra and Kyle; and two great-grandchildren, Chasity and Joshua. He was preceded in death by three sons, Albert Niese, Jerry Niese and Paul Niese; a daughter, Jane Niese; a brother, Carl Niese; a sister, Irene Richardson; a half brother, Arthur Blotkamp; and two half sisters, Dorothy Danieri and Mary Terrill. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike Geiger will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles School or Lima Central Catholic High School.
