Alice L. (Walker) Smith,
86, of Lima, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, at 11:30 A.M. July 26, 2012 peacefully at her son Warren's home, in Duncanville, TX, where she had been graciously cared for by her daughter-in-law, Lois Basinger.
She was born Thursday, May 20, 1926 in Findlay, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Harry Walker and the late Minnie (Ferguson) Walker.
She married Robert Basinger on August 23, 1947. She later married Fred Basil Smith on October 12, 1958, and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2001.
Alice retired from ExCello Corp, as an inspector, after 34 years of service. She was a member of Bluelick United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a faithful member of the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital. She also volunteered for 15 years at ExCello Credit Union and was honored by the chapter with a Volunteer of the Year Award Plaque.
Surviving are: sons, Warren (Lois) Basinger of Duncanville, TX; Fred L. Smith of Lima, OH; and Darryl Smith of Urbana, OH; daughter, Tonya (Russell) Grant of Bonaire, GA; brother, Robert (Lena) Walker of Lima, OH; Ten Grandchildren, and Twenty Two Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a grandson, Justin Smith and a nephew Denny Walker.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home,
A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlotte Hefner officiating.
Interment will be in Bluelick Cemetery, Lima, OH.
