Alice SMITH

Alice Eileen Smith, 84, died at 5:47 a.m. June 11, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Allen County to Merritt and Nellie Mae Hilliard Kendall, who preceded her in death. She married Sanford S. Smith, who died in 1967. Mrs. Smith had worked in the department of nutrition at St. Rita's Medical Center and at Central Mutual Insurance, Van Wert. She loved sewing, traveling and her dogs. Survivors include five nieces and nephews, Patricia E. (David L.) Cady, of Lima, Shirley M. Stalter, of Lakeview, Eddie (Becky) Booher, of Lima, Diana Stemen, of Richmond, Va., and Eileen (Ronald) Schumacher, of Lima; and several great-nieces and -nephews and several great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Junior Kendall; three sisters, Catherine Craine, Marybell Myers and Marie Booher; a half brother, Dudley R. Kendall; and a nephew, Danny Booher. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Ronald Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
