Allen "Al" M. Layman,
79, died at 6:15 PM on Monday, February 03, 2014, at his residence in Lima, Ohio.
Allen was born on Saturday, March 10, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Lawrence P. Layman and Jessie (Davey) Layman.
On April 18, 1953 he married Betty Wagenknecht, she survives in Lima, Ohio. They were married for 60 years. He had worked at Coca Cola and General Electric in Toledo, Ohio as an Electronics Technician. He was the owner and operator of Al's TV and Stereo for many years in Lima. He was a member of New Creation Lutheran Church. He held a private pilots license and was a ham radio operator with the handle "K8EBN". While he loved gardening and radio controlled airplanes, his greatest love was for his family.
He is survived by: a daughter Sandy (Mark) Swaney, of Wapakoneta, OH; a son Paul (Cindy) Layman, of Lima, OH; a daughter Linda (Rodney) Geiger, of Lima, OH; a daughter Wendy (Josh) Gaines, of Lima, OH; a son Kenny (Julie) Layman, of Spencerville, OH; a daughter Kathy (Tim) Henry, of Bluffton, OH; twelve grandchildren Scott (Kelly) Miller, Donny (Amy) Geiger, Angie (Andrew) Fields, Kayla (Jordan) Welch, Ashley (Nathan) Klingler, T.J. Hughes, Kory (Mika) Layman, Dylan Layman, Sean Layman, Amber Henry, Maddie Henry, Dakota Henry; eight great grandchildren: a brother Lester (Vera) Layman; a sister Sharon (Don) Mittlehauser; a brother Ron Layman: many nephews & nieces.
He was preceded in death by: a brother and sister-in-law, James (Nancy) Layman; sister-in-law Julie Layman.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Home, 920 N. Cable Rd., Lima, Ohio 45805 on Sunday February 9, 2014 and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the New Creation Lutheran Church, 2701 Allentown Rd., Lima, Ohio 45805.
A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at New Creation Lutheran Church in Lima, with Pastor Samuel Payne officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
