Alvin Whetstone

Alvin Ronnie ?Ron? Whetstone, 76, died at 9:28 p.m. May 17, 2010, at his residence. He was born March 29, 1934, in Lima to Virgil and Mabel Hines Whetstone, who preceded him in death. In June 1954, he married Faye Dingledine, who died in November 1995. In January 1997, he married Sharon Cook Lang, who survives in Lima. Mr. Whetstone was a graduate of Buckland schools. He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 5, 1956, to Dec. 4, 1962. He was a member of Lima Community Church of the Nazarene, Lima. He had worked in construction as a project manager. He also worked for Tuttle Construction, Health Care Retirement, Health Care Facility, and was self-employed. Survivors also include two daughters, Robyn (Jeff) Kundert, of New Castle, Ind., and Rhonda (Mark) Breuker, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a son, Kyle (Lisa) Whetstone, of Irmo, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Beth (Randy) Walters, of Pleasant Hill, and Julie (Brice) Little, of Bluffton; a stepson, Douglas (Jen) Lang, of Elida; six grandsons; six stepgrandsons; three stepgranddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Rita) Whetstone, of Wapakoneta; and two nieces and a nephew. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. His son-in-law, Pastor Jeffrey Kundert, will officiate. Burial will be in Buckland Cemetery, Buckland. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a Veterans of Foreign Wars service will begin at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Community Church of the Nazarene, 2945 N.
