AMOS P. FITZGERALD, 93, died at 3:20 a.m. October 23, 2004, at Lima Convalescent Home. He was born March 2, 1911, in Canaan, W.Virginia, to Amos F. and Edna May McKisic Fitzgerald, who preceded him in death. On September 29, 1950, he married Roberta Crawley, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Fitzgerald retired on June 1, 1969, as a sergeant first class from the Army, after 30 years. He had enlisted on April 1, 1939. Following his retirement, he worked at Clark Equipment for 10 years. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and Woodsman of the World. Survivors also include two sons, Paul V. (Gail) Fitzgerald of Indianapolis and Robert B. (Ellen) Fitzgerald of Lima, Ohio; and two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by eight siblings, Otsie Stewart, Mary Fisher, Dwight, Fitzgerald, Arnett Fitzgerald, Vocie Morrison, James Fitzgerald, Johnie Fitzgerald and Edna Vogel. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Dave Ritchie will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Central Catholic High School or ArtSpace Lima, Ohio.
