Anita Jean Newman
Anita Jean Newman, 89, died on September 1, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Lima Convalescent Home.
Anita was born on October 28, 1923 in Lima, Ohio to Theodore Siferd and Geneva (Growdon) Siferd who both preceded her in death.
She married Billy E. "Bill" Newman on December 18, 1943 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2008. She was a graduate of Lima South High School in 1941 where she was an active member of Phi Beta Tau Sorority where she remained active until later in life. Anita enjoyed her role as loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a life member of South Side Christian Church. She received awards and recognition from Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for her work with pediatric cerebral palsy patients. She was a past First Lady of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International. She volunteered for the Allen Co. Meals on Wheels program. After her husband's death she spent the last 5 years of her life as a resident of the Primrose Retirement Community where she enjoyed new friends and activities. She will be remembered fondly for her ever-present wit and humor, which remained with her until she beheld the glorious face of her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by a son Ted A. (Sara) Newman of Lima, OH; two daughters Cheryl A. (John) Tucker of Marshallville, OH and Patricia A. (Jim) Farler of Venice FL; ten grandchildren John Michael (Holly) Tucker, Jim (Sarah) Tucker, Jeff (Jana) Tucker, Jenny Tucker, Julie (Matt) Trainor, Amy Farler, Paul Farler, William "Buck" Newman & Fiancé-Jillian Jones , Daniel Newman & Brittany Ransom and Katherine Newman; seven great grandchildren Kayla, Paige, Jason, Laura, Brad, Alex and Chantz. Also, surviving is a brother Charles D. Siferd of Lima, and a sister Shirley Hart-Larsen of Grand Rapids, MI.
She was preceded in death by her sister Patsy Spidel.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2-13 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima.
Funeral services will be begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday September 7, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with Rev. Wanda Werking officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions be made to St. Rita's Hospice or South Side Christian Church.
