Anna Van Buskirk

ANNA "ANN" THERESA VAN BUSKIRK, 79, died at 4:05 a.m. October 29, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born November 23, 1925, in Inkerman, Pennsylvania, to Michael and Pauline (Roman) Kasalis. On October 26, 1946, she married John C. "Jack" Van Buskirk, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Van Buskirk received her degree as a registered nurse in President Roosevelt's Cadet Nursing Corp, graduating in September 1946 from Wyoming Valley Homeopathic Hospital. She worked as a private-duty nurse in Pennsylvania before moving to Lima, Ohio in 1950 where she and her husband raised their family. She worked for Dr. David Muth as a vision training assistant for several years. Her last position was as a resident manager at Carmen Place. She was a loving person who was always available when her friends and neighbors needed her. She will be missed. Survivors also include four children, Sherry (Tom) Krouse of Lima, Ohio, Chuck (Jeannie) Van Buskirk of Winston-Salem, N. Carolina, Jody (Dan) Bales of Lima, Ohio and Kris (Wendy) Van Buskirk of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Stella Oley of Scranton, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Toby (Annette) Krouse of West Virginia, Kim (Kevin) Warnecke of Lima, Ohio, John Van Buskirk of Columbus, Ohio, Joy Van Buskirk of Lima, Ohio, Jamie Bales of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew Bales of Lima, Ohio, Tyra Prowant of Lima, Ohio, and Devin Van Buskirk of Lima, Ohio; two great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a niece. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex Kasalis and Arthur Kasalis; and a grandchild, Kaylynn Van Buskirk. Service will begin at 7 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The Rev. Stephen Blum will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
