ANTHONY L. "TONY" COLASANTI, 76, died at 2:09 p.m. April 30, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born October 16, 1930, in Detroit, Ohio to Vincent and Angelina Martucci Colasanti,, who preceded him in death. On October 13, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, he married Diane Bine, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Colasanti retired on April 1, 1984, as a supervisor from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, where he was an usher, had served on the parish council and was a member of its Holy Name Society and PTO. He was a life member of Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 54, American Legion Post 96 and CIAO. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Knights of Columbus 4th degree and the Red Cross disaster team. He had served as a special deputy. He was a driving force in the Great Oaks District for several years. He was instrumental in restarting St. Gerard Troop 47, where he had been a Cub master and Webelos den leader. He served as a unit commissioner, an assistant district commissioner, a district commissioner and council commissioner on the executive board of the Shawnee Council. He had been a council contingent leader for a Philmont Trek, chaired several events, was a roundtable commissioner and Scoutmaster for Scoutmaster training. In 1974, he received the District Award of Merit and the St. George Award. In 1983, he was awarded a Silver Beaver and in March 2007 he received the President's Award at the council's annual dinner and recognition event. He was an Army veteran. Survivors also include five sons, Anthony V. (Carol) Colasanti, of Lima, Ohio, James E. (Kathleen) Colasanti, of Ottawa, Ohio, Christopher A. (Kimberly) Colasanti, of Lima, Ohio, Mark D. (Kathryn) Colasanti, of Columbus, Ohio, and Brett L. (Kimberly) Colasanti, of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Diana L. (Glen) Sunderland and Angel R. (Christopher) Miracle, both of Lima, Ohio; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Patrick, Nicole, Courtney, Nathan and Noah; and nine step grandchildren, 12, step great-grandchildren and a step great-great-grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. James McDonald will officiate. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Black Swamp Area Council/Camp Lakota.
