Anthony J. "Tony" Sarno
58, died at 9:21 AM on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio following a one year battle with cancer.
Tony was born on March 17, 1956, in Lima, Ohio, to William Sarno and Janet (Wright) Sarno. Tony is survived by his parents, who reside in Lima.
Tony was a 1973 graduate of Lima Central Catholic. He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in N.Y. and earned his BBA and MA at The Ohio State University. He was an accountant for Fifth Third Bank in Columbus, manager at Lindey's Restaurant then at the Capital Club, Columbus before moving San Francisco, CA to join AT&T where he worked until his illness. A devoted employee at each job he had, Tony enjoyed working for Olentangy Village since moving back to Columbus this year.
He is survived by a brother, William (Lynn) Sarno, of Perrysburg, OH, and their children, Nick Sarno of Perrysburg, OH and Victoria Sarno, of Columbus, OH.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Tony was a great friend to many people, including his special cousin Debbie Mazza of N.Y., his friends David Tebben, of Lima, OH., Suzanne Karpus, Marisa Cinson, David Berg, Jeffrey Horvath, Kevin Pica and Kathy Flowers of Columbus, OH., Elmor Garlitos and Javier Guillen of California, and Steve Moore of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Alexander Sarno.
Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at St. Johns Catholic Church on Friday November 7, 2014.
A Memorial Mass will begin at on Friday, November 07, 2014 at 12:00 noon at. St. John's Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio. Rev. David Ross will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Central Catholic High School or St. John's Catholic Church.
