Arlene Lena (Carrino) Smith,
92, of Lima, was granted her Angel wings on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 1:25 P.M. She was surrounded by her loving children as she drifted off to heaven to be with our Lord and loved ones that preceded her. She was born on September 7, 1920 in Delphos, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late John and Egola (Massoli) Carrino. On June 23, 1937, she married her first love and soul mate Carl Smith, who died April 26, 1999, after 62 years of marriage.
Arlene spent most of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many summers were spent at Lake Amanda where she and Carl camped and created many special memories with all her loved ones. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She loved all God's creatures. She surrounded herself with many pets. She was particularly fond of turtles and became known as "Grandma Turtle" from her grandchildren. Arlene was a very thoughtful and caring person. She always greeted everyone with a hug and a smile. She will always be remembered for her excellent cooking that was shared with anyone who came to visit her. Arlene & Carl enjoyed each other's company especially on the dance floor. Arlene worked at R.G. Dunn Cigar Factory, Sears Department Store and was a member of the Eagles Aerie #370 Auxiliary, and C.I.A.O.
She is survived by: a son Gary (Judy) Smith of Lima; three daughters, Barbara (John) Muleski of Cridersville, Veronica (Joe) McMichael of Spencerville, and Debra (Randal) Place of Wapakoneta. She is survived by: sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.She was surrounded by her family's love and presence every day.
Preceding her in death was: a son, William Smith; a grandson, Shane Smith; and a brother, Michael Oleviri.
Friends may call on Sunday, October 14, from 4-8 P.M. at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with a Parish Wake Service to be held at 8 P.M. on the 14th and a visitation also on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. till time to leave for the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October, 15, 2012 at the St. Rose Catholic Church at 11 A.M. Father Norbert Howe officiating.
