78, died at 10:43 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at his residence in Lima, Ohio.
Arthur was born on December 05, 1934, in Paulding, Ohio, to Arthur Phillips Sr. and Anna Elizabeth [Bass] Phillips, both are deceased.
On Wednesday, February 14, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he married Clemmie A. Glover Phillips.
Mr. Phillips first married Jeanine K. Williams, on November 9, 1962, in Lima, Ohio. She died March 20, 1992. He then married Clemmie A. Glover on February 14, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Phillips graduated from Grover Hill High School in 1953. He had served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from March 25, 1953 till September 25, 1957 with the 7th Division, 73rd TK BN during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Ford Motor Company Lima Engine Plant as a Quality Control Inspector for 30 years, 3 months, retiring on January 1, 1990. He belonged to Philippian Missionary Baptist Church, Lima, Ohio. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #9289 in St. Marys, Ohio and the American Legion #0888 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is survived by: two sons, Arthur E. Phillips, of Lima, OH, and Ronald A. Phillips, of Hartford City, IN; two daughters, Shellie E. Brown, of Lima, OH, and Donna J. Phillips, of Lima, OH, four stepsons, Charles E. Glover, of Columbus, OH, Richard L. Glover, of Columbus, OH, Sean E. Glover, of Saint Marys, OH, Dr. Melvin E. (Kimberly) Glover, of Atlanta, GA; a brother, James L. (Gertrude) Phillips, of Lima, OH; a sister Marlyn F. Miles, of Columbus, OH; twenty-two grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Herbert Phillips, Alvin Phillips, and William Phillips; six sisters, Thelma Mines, Pauline Young, Juanita Greenwade, Mary Middlebrook, Roseann Dent, and Marva Young.
The family will receive friends from Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9289, St. Marys, Ohio
A Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Larry Tinker will officiate.
Interment will be in Little Middle Creek Cemetery, Washington Twp., Paulding, County, Ohio at a later date.
