ARTHUR JOHN STIMMEL, 73, died at 3:05 a.m. May 30, 2007, at his residence. He was born May 29, 1934, in Lima to John Arthur and Eunice Hauenstein Stimmel, who preceded him in death. On May 8, 1996, he married Cathy Baker, who survives in Elida. Mr. Stimmel was self-employed and had worked at Birkenbine Chevrolet. He was a life member of Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 54, where he was a past exalted ruler, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, American Legion Post 96 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War, from Jan. 6, 1954, to Dec. 21, 1955. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. Survivors also include three sons, John Arthur (Taffy) Stimmel, of Lima, Joe (Nancy) Baker, of Piqua, and Sam (Denise) Baker, of Delphos; three daughters, Michelle (Gary) Burrow, of Alvarado, Texas, Laura K. Stimmel, of Lima, and Lori (Travis) Williams, of Elida; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Reiff. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rosalie Lora will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida.
