85, died at 12:55 PM on Monday, September 07, 2015, at his residence in Lima, Ohio.

Avery was born on December 09, 1929, in Cullman Co., Alabama, to the late Wiley Poole and Haley (Hampton) Poole.

Avery married Josephine Martin on January 24, 1948. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2003. He retired from the Ford Motor Company as a cutter/grinder in 1988 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Lima Community Church of the Nazarene where he volunteered weekly. He also volunteered at WTGN and did foreign overseas missions work. He served as chaplain at the UAW Retirees #1219. He was a member of the Lima Lodge #205 F&AM and the Port Jefferson Lodge.

He is survived by a close friend and companion, Carol Bowers, of Lima, OH, a daughter, Pamela (Doug) Johnson, of Columbus Grove, OH; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a brother, O.T. (Marie) Poole, of Greenville, MS and son-in-law, Jim Kyzer, of Prairie Grove, AR.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Melvin Poole, a daughter, Karen Eastman and a son-in-law, Jerry Bowman.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2015 and a Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 P.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Pastor Doug Boquist will officiate.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
