B. Maxine Wright Helmig, 89, died at 5:15 p.m. April 10, 2011, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 27, 1921, in American Township to Otis and Mary Kennedy Wright, who preceded her in death. On April 26, 1946, she married Charles Helmig, who died Sept. 19, 1999.
Mrs. Helmig was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she volunteered for several years. She loved gardening and reading, especially her daily prayer book.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Polly) Helmig, Brent (Marsha) Helmig and Carl (Dawn) Helmig, all of Lima; two daughters, Teresa DeCurtins, of Lima, and Connie (Jeff) Partee, of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren, Brett (Annemarie) DeCurtins and Jon (Alysha) DeCurtins, both of Cincinnati, Gavin Helmig, of Lima, Dr. Sara Helmig, of Dallas, Kara Helmig, of Grand Forks, N.D., Brad (Kate) Partee, of Mentor, Chrissy (Dr. Joseph) Mazer, of Seneca, S.C., and Kayla Helmig, Lance Helmig and Brittany Helmig, all of Lima; six great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Cecilia, Jack Tate, Teagan and Gavin, with a seventh due in May; six sisters, Lavina Pugh, of Melbourne, Fla., Louella (Don) Harmon and Cecil McDonald, both of Lima, June Coats, of Melbourne, Fla., and Janet (Bill) Sarno and Joyce Wright, both of Lima; a brother, Roger (Marilyn) Wright, of Lima; and four sisters-in-law, Laura Wright, Rosemary Wright, Eleanor Jones and Jeanne Helmig, all of Lima.
She was preceded in death by five siblings, Ogatha Rhinock, Bill, Carl and Martha Wright, and Mary Kathryn Scott; a son-in-law, Dennis DeCurtins; and four brothers-in-law, Don Pugh, Bud Scott, Jim Coats and Howard Rhinock.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Tim Kummerer and Father Stephen Blum will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Central Catholic High School athletic department or educational fund.
