BENJAMIN HARVEY GREEN, 81, died at 12:47 a.m. January 5, 2005, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born March 8, 1923, in Allen County, Ohio to Arza Franklin and Minnie Edith Snyder Green, who preceded him in death. On May 14, 1943, he married Betty Ruth Reese, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Green retired in 1985 from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, after 28 years. He had also worked at Lima Electric Products. He was a member of First Evangelical & Reformed Church, where he had been a trustee and deacon. He was a member of the Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers Association and the Northland Senior Citizens Bowling League. He was a life member of the LSM-LSMR Association and was instrumental in reuniting some of his shipmates from the LSM 23 and getting them to attend the LSM-LSMR reunions. He was a 1942 graduate of Lima Central High School. He was Navy veteran serving from December 27, 1943, to January 8, 1946. He was an avid golfer. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He always enjoyed helping people. Survivors also include two sons, Ben A. (Jane) Green of Fenton, Michigan, Gary L. (Barbara) Green of Valparaiso, Indiana; two daughters, Elizabeth A. "Betsy" (Alan) May of Lakeview, Ohio and Jill A. (fianc? Steve Perham) Cunningham of Columbus Grove, Ohio; a sister, Martha E. Barrington of Lima, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Benjamin (Kim) Green, Melinda Linske, Tiffany (Jhan) Graether, Alan (Tammy) May Jr., Jeremy (Tiffany) May, Eric Cunningham, Matthew & (Amy) Cunningham Lindsay Cunningham, Elizabeth Cunningham, Elizabeth Green, Nathaniel Green and Andrew Green; and nine great-grandchildren, Benjamin Green, Kya Green, Parker Green, McKenna Green, Jammie Linske, Tyler May, Kaitlyn May, Clay Cunningham and Taylor Cunningham. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Paul Green, Thomas Green, Kenneth, James Green, John Green and David Green; and a grandson-in-law, James Linske. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Evangelical & Reformed Church. The Revs. David Williams and Randall Luther will officiate. A private burial of the cremains will be held at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.
