91, of Lima, Ohio, died on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 2:20 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.
Born Friday, October 8, 1920, in Lima, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Leo Ayers and the late Elizabeth (Tummel) Ayers.
Bettie married John C. Baumgardner on May 9, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was a graduate of Central High School. She had worked at Meyers Pharmacy for 7 years during the 60's and then became head cook at South Jr. High School for 20 years. She was a member of Central Christian Church and the Eagles Aerie #370
Surviving are: a son, James C. (Lois K.) Baumgardner of Elida, OH; a daughter, Barbara Crisp of Elida, OH; two daughter-in-laws, Sonja Baumgardner of Elida, OH, and Lisa Baumgardner of Elida, OH; six grandchildren, Scott Baumgardner, Michelle Baumgardner, Aubree (Mike) Kaye, Brett (Christine Kemper) Baumgardner, Ashlie Crisp, Jonathon Baumgardner; eleven great grandchildren, Katrina Baumgardner, Chloe Baumgardner, Krista Baumgardner, Dean Baumgardner, Lukas Kaye, Abigale Kaye, Elliott Kaye, Kingston Byresong, Samantha Ralston, Ciara Ralston, Rachael Ralston; sister, Martha Smith.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sons, John "Jack" Baumgardner of Elida, OH and Gregory Baumgardner; sisters, Shirley Ayers, Jean Weirman and Mary Evans.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Central Christian Church located at 525 W. North St. Lima, Ohio 45801 with the Rev. Mark Tisch officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
