Betty E. Anders, 89, died at 5:38 p.m. June 25, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born November 14, 1920, in Lima, Ohio to Charles and Lenora Parker Furry, who preceded her in death. She was raised by Chalk and Belle Stemen, who preceded her in death. On May 30, 1942, in Genoa, she married Lawrence "Bunk" Anders, who died October 16, 2009.
Mrs. Anders was a member of Lima Baptist Temple and its adult Sunday school class. She also was a foster mother for 35 children. She volunteered at Lima Memorial Health System with 12,000-plus hours. She had worked at Westinghouse and was an operator for the phone company. She was an avid Elida Bulldog fan and loved to garden and fish. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include two sons, John (Marty) Anders, of Fort Jennings, Ohio, and James Anders, of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Norena Sue Anders Guy, of Largo, Florida; eight grandchildren, Brian Anders, Jennifer (Marc) Sciranka, April (Patrick) Blake, Rachel Anders, Lane (Audra) Guy, John Anders, Robert "Steve" (Pam) Wiseman and Dan (Sue) Wiseman; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob Guy, Ian Guy, Stephanie Wiseman, Madison Wiseman, Loren Blake, Ethan Blake, Matthew Anders, Kaelin Anders, Cameron Sciranka, Conner Sciranka and Tyler Wiseman. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ira Furry, Frank Furry and Parker Furry; and two sisters, Margaret Stumpp and Zoe Paul.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lima Baptist Temple. The Rev. Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lima Baptist Temple.
