Betty Jean Brown,
87, of Lima, Ohio died on Thursday, November 8, 2012, 9: 10 P.M. at Lima Convalescent Home in Lima, Ohio.
Born December 15, 1924 in Mount Blanchard, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gleason McVitty and the late Cora (Reigle) McVitty.
Betty married Dr. Thomas J. Brown on July 17, 1949. He resides in Lima. She was a school teacher and received her B.S. in Education from The Ohio State University in 1948. She was a member of: Lima Trinity United Methodist Church; the United Methodist Women and served as President & Secretary; the P.E.O. served as President; the Sorosis Club; the OES Chapter #16 and was a member for 50 years; a member of the AAUW; Charter Member of the Cotillion Dance Club; and a life member of the Lima Memorial Health Systems Auxiliary.
Surviving are: two sons, Thomas J. (Paula) Brown, Jr. of Columbus, OH and Dr. David T. (Ann) Brown of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters, Linda (Dr. Joseph) Beaman of Dayton, OH and Patricia (Judge Jeffrey) Reed of Lima, OH; 10 grandchildren, Dr. Andrea (Dr. Aaron) Sargeant, Benjamin (Dr. Jessica) Beaman, Dr. Rachel (Timothy) Kacmar, Amelia Brown, Jacob Brown, Elizabeth (Michael) Burke, James Brown, Alison (William) Hedges, Diana (Eric) Rose, Amy Reed; five great grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Andrew, Thomas and Victoria.
She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Ellen Gardner and Dorothy Emig.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. David Harris officiating.
