Betty Gene Bushong

Betty Bushong, 96, passed away March 17 at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born July 14, 1927, west of Wapakoneta, to the late Benjamin and Anna (Julien) Katter.

On September 11, 1948, she married Robert Bushong who died May 26, 1991.

Betty attended Doorley one-room school for the first five grades, having skipped the second grade. She then attended the new centralized school at Moulton and in 1944 graduated from Blume High School, Wapakoneta.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had been a 55-year member of the former Grace United Methodist Church where she was employed as an office secretary for 30 years.

She is survived by two grandsons; Kyle Bushong and Kevin Bushong, both of Lima, daughter-in-law; Viki Bushong, of Kalida, niece; Karen (John) Vornholt, of Sidney, and several grand and great grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son; Bert Bushong (1950-2008), brother; Hugh (Donna) Katter, sister; Dorothy (Willis) Miller, and niece; Sherilan Moler.

Betty enjoyed reading, caring for her several small cacti and plants, and keeping in touch with family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home on Wednesday March 27 at 12pm. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service.

Pastor Lori Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
