Betty J. Frail, 82, died at 1:07 p.m. May 8, 2010, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born May 28, 1927, in Lima, Ohio to Justin and Melva Hefner Ruff, who preceded her in death. On April 21, 1946, she married James E. Frail, who died September 28, 2001. Mrs. Frail had worked at Tony?s Confectionary, Harris IGA, as a clerk at Woolworth?s, in the office at U.S. Plastics and as a seamstress at Kathy M?s. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, which is now Westside UMC. She was a member of its Sunday school and children?s department. She coordinated and taught Sunday school and Bible school, sang in the choir, was a member of the Gil-Net class, and was a member of United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Patriotic Club during World War II and later, serving at the serviceman?s canteen at the railroad station. She and her late husband were avid crafters, making and selling crafts out of their home. She was a great mom, grandma and great-grandma. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca (Jack) Crabtree, of Huntington Station, New York, and Cynthia ?Cindy? (Jeff) Crawford, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Emma Jane (Dennis) Vandemark, of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Robert (Betty) Ruff, of Omaha, Nebraska; a son-in-law, Rick Goff, of Lebanon, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Gina Howard, Wendy (Gary) Mockabee, Betsey (Craig) Kohls, Andrew (Andrea) Crabtree, Benjamin Crabtree, Jason (Kristi) Crawford, Nicholas (Jennifer) Crawford and Lacey (Marc) Nice; and 13 great-grandchildren, Brooke Howard, Owen Mockabee, Drew Kohls, Lucy Kohls, Marin Crabtree, Hana Crawford, Delana Crawford, Jordan Crawford, Kayla Cooper, Alexis Cooper, Caiden Crawford, Cori Crawford and Logan Nice. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Goff. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. William Cronk will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
