On August 10, 2014, God called 90 year old, Betty Ruth Green home. She was born April 10, 1924 to the late William Hayden and Nellie Ruth (Risser) Reese, in Vaughnsville, Ohio.
On May 14, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Benjamin Harvey Green. After 61 years of marriage, Ben passed away January 5, 2005.
Betty attended Lima Central High School where she participated in girls' sports. She is a long time member of the First Evangelical and Reform Church where she was the preschool Sunday School teacher, member of the Builders Class, and belonged to many women's groups at church. She loved her family and liked to brag about their accomplishments. She was a 4-H advisor for Bath Stitch and Rip and had worked at Westinghouse during WWII. She loved visiting Florida with her son Ben (Jane) Green, and truly enjoyed the nature in her back yard.
She is survived by: a son Ben (Jane) Green, of Fenton Michigan, a daughter Betsy (Alan) May, of Lakeview, Ohio, a daughter Jill (Steve) Perham, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, and a son Gary (Barbara) Green, of Valpareso, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, Ben (Kim) Green, of Brighton Michigan, Melinda Linske (Bob Bodnar), of Brighton Michigan, Tiffany (Jhan) Graether of Santiago, Chile, Alan (Stacy) May Jr., of Waynesfield, Ohio, Jeremy May, of Lima, Ohio, Eric Cunningham, of Columbus, Ohio, Matthew (Amy) Cunningham, of Lima, Ohio, Lindsay Cunningham (Aaron McCormick), of Lima, Ohio, Christina (Kevin) Ellison, of Evansville, Indiana, David Perham, of Lima, Ohio, Daniel (Danielle) Perham, of Lima, Ohio, Elizabeth Green, of Valpareso, Indiana, Nathaniel Green, of Valpareso, Indiana, and Andrew Green, of Valpareso, Indiana, and thirty-six great grandchildren, a brother William Eugene (Miriam) Reese of Wapakoneta, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a sister Helen Elizabeth (William) Noonan of Carlsbad, California.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical & Reformed Church.
Memorial service will begin at 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the First Evangelical & Reformed Church with Pastor Ed Rinehart officiating.
