Betty Jo Hirn

Betty Jo Hirn , 80, passed away on July 26, 2022, at Shawnee Manor.

Betty was born on July 29, 1941 in Allen Co., Ohio, to Donald and Desma (Butler) Verbryke.  On May 13, 1961 she married Tom Hirn, who survives in Lima.

Betty was a 1959 Shawnee Graduate and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Most of her career she worked as a beautician at Ida Louise Beauty Shop. Betty enjoyed bowling and going to car shows.

Along with her husband she is survived by her children, Tom (Debra) Hirn Jr. of Maine, Tim (Melissa) Hirn of Lima.,and William (Melinda) Hirn of Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Vikki Hirn of Ada,  12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Decker of Lima, and Gloria (Richard) Swartz of Spencerville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Terry Hirn; and a sister Sharon (Don) Simpkins.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday August 1, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio and 1 hour prior to service at St. Charles Borromeo Cathollic Church.  A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Father Kent Kaufman will officiate.  Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Corners Community Center C/O St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
