Betty Jean Kohli Snider, graduated to Heaven on November 26, 2021, after peacefully passing at her home with family members present. Betty enjoyed a full life as she celebrated 96 birthdays. Betty’s parents Alfred and Maude Bates, her husband and father of her children Robert E Kohli, husband Doyle Snider, Son-in-law David Buchanan and eight brothers and sisters welcomed her upon her arrival.
Betty had three children, Son Gary Kohli & Linda Callahan, Daughters Karleen Buchanan and Debra Basham and Son-in-law Ralph Basham, 12 Grandchildren, Gregory and Diane Kohli, Shelli and Mike Roosa, Kelly and Laura Basham, Melissa Marmor, Brian Buchanan and Carol Hardy, Kent Basham, Brenda and Shad Falls, Robert Kohli, Scott and Erin Buchanan, Brad Kohli and Molly Ford, Stacy and Nathan Inbody, Kari and Willie Wireman and was very proud of her 29 Great-Grandchildren and 9 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Betty was born in Convoy, Ohio on January 29, 1925. She lived there with her parents and siblings until she graduated from Convoy High School in 1943. She moved to Lima to work for the County Road Department where in 1944 she met her husband to be Bob. They were married March 30, 1946 and remained so until Bob’s death in 1985. In 1995 she married Doyle Snider until his passing in 2012
While raising her children Betty was very involved in their education and volunteered her service with the Bath Township Boosters Club and PTA. She also was a member of the Bath Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and worked for over 30 years with the Allen County Election Board and was the Secretary/Treasurer of Kleer water Equipment Company.
Betty enjoyed going to her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren’s sporting events and was often welcomed top these games by the players as they would come over to her with hugs and kisses.
She loved playing golf even though she did not begin to play until she was in her fifties. She played in two Leagues for over 30 years, resting her clubs at the age of 86.
Betty also was a long-time member of the Lima Elketts Bowling League. She took great pride in having a competitive average and never would miss a week of Bowling with some of her best friends.
Her favorite sports team was the Cincinnati Reds. She not only watched most of the game via television, she attended games into her 90’s. During winter months she rooted for the Cincinnati Bengals and was famous for telling the television what the coaches should be doing.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. A Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with an hour of visitation prior. Pastor James Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Bluelick Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Township Fire & Rescue or Putnam County Hospice.
