Betty Mason

Betty Ellen Mason, 88, died at 12:55 a.m. July 24, 2009, at The Ridge at Shawnee. She was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Lima to Charles Frederick and Eva Ellen Snider Tharp, who preceded her in death. She married H. Owen Mason, who died April 29, 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Nikki (Mike) Sherrick, of Lima; two grandsons, Matthew (Cathy) Sherrick, of Mason, and Joshua (Tia) Sherrick, of Lima; three great-grandchildren, Drew Sherrick, Madison Sherrick and Owen Sherrick; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, C. Frederick II and Thomas A. Tharp. Services will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. William Cronk will officiate. A private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.
