Betty J. McLaughlin

Betty J. McLaughlin, 97, peacefully passed away at 12:15 p.m. on July 15, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center with family at her side.

Betty was born on November 9, 1923, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Harry and Agnes (Lindbloom) Bash.  On August 7, 1967 she married her love, Harold L. McLaughlin who preceded her in death on June 23, 2008.

Betty served in the U.S. Army during World War II, obtaining the rank of Corporal, and was honorably discharged.  She later worked many years for the Social Security Administration. She was an avid golfer and especially loved “fishing” the ponds for lost golf balls.  She had two cats, Tony and Spooker, who brought a lot of joy to her life.

She is survived by her three sisters-in-law: Mary Isaacson, Betty Britt and Mary Strathern; and multiple nieces and nephews.   Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry Bash and Robert Bash.

There will be no public visitation or services.  The family will hold a small private burial of ashes at a later date in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Humane Shelter.
