Betty J. Payson, 92, of Lima, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Otterbein-Cridersville.
Born Friday, January 23, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ellsworth Jones and the late Blanche ( Pike) Jones. She married Richard Manning Payson on June 20, 1951 who preceded her in death on December 28, 2001.
Betty was an amazing homemaker, avid traveler, dedicated volunteer and, above all else, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and its Altar Guild.
Surviving are daughters, Marsha (Yoshitada) Hayashi of Okayama, Japan, and Diane (Richard) Hunt of Lima, five grandchildren; Jamie Hayashi, Kent Hayashi, Lisa Hayashi, Emily Hunt, Rachel Hunt and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Jones, and sister, Lolly Coleman.
Visitation is from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with the Pastor Michael Hughes officiating. Her ashes will be entombed in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima.
