Betty Louise Ramga 85, died at 9:30 a.m. July 6, 2007, at her residence. She was born March 9, 1922, in Lima to Russell M. and Lulu M. Bowsher Born, who preceded her in death. On June 22, 1941, she married Wayne Clifford Ramga, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Ramga was a 20-year employee of the city of Lima and had the distinction of being the first woman communications operator for the Lima Police Department. She was a fourth generation member of Southside Christian Church and was the first woman elected as an elder of the congregation. She was a member of Central Christian Church, a member of its diaconate and a life-long member of the Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) denomination. She served on the Ohio regional board and the executive committee for the Christian Church in Ohio. She was a member of the Christian Woman?s Fellowship and the Institute for Learning in Retirement at Bluffton University. She volunteered as a reading tutor at Lima City Schools and at Churches United Pantry. She was a 1940 graduate of South High School. Survivors also include a son, Dean C. (Victoria) Ramga, of Fishers, Indiana; two daughters, the Rev. Patrice (Charles) Rosner, of Pacific, Mo., and Deborah S. Humphrey, of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Walter L. (Mary) Born, of Aberdeen, N.J.; a sister, Miriam J. Lee, of Delaware, Ohio; a brother-in-law, M. Carl Ramga, of Riverview, Florida; a sister-in-law, Thelma First, of Lima, Ohio; four grandchildren, Andrea L. Ramga, of Miamisburg, Ohio, Kara L. Hesselmeyer, of Pacific, Mo., and Adam W. and Amy L. Humphrey, of Columbus, Ohio; and five step grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Grace M. Rutledge Born; and a grandchild, Douglas C. Ramga. Memorial Services will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at Central Christian Church. The Rev. Mark Tisch will officiate. A private burial of ashes will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shawnee Cemetery.
