Bill Felkey, 82, of Kalida, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at St. Rita’s Mercy Health. He was born on November 4, 1939 in Lima to the late Floyd “Jake” and Pauline “Pinky” {Fanger} Felkey. On June 25, 1960, he married Mary Lou Kahle, who preceded him in death on April 15, 2013.
After graduating from high school, Bill graduated from Barber College in Columbus. He opened Bill’s Barber Shop in Kalida until 1974. Bill went to work at General Motors, retiring after 25 years and was a Kalida Fireman for 21 years. After retirement, he was a part-time groundskeeper at Moose Landing Golf Course. He was one of the founders of the Kalida Athletic Boosters and was a member of the Lakeside Condo Association, St. Michael’s Catholic Church and their Holy Name Society, the American Legion Post #63, Moose Lodge #199, and Kalida Knights of Columbus Council 5669. Bill enjoyed being a snowbird in Florida with his wife, gardening, golfing, and heading up the the men’s Friday afternoon golf outings.
Bill is survived by his daughters: Sue Felkey of Kalida, Jan (Steve) Schroeder of Glandorf, Chris Recker of Glandorf, and Denise (Eric) Recker of Kalida, grandchildren: Stephanie (Eric) Caraballo, Stacy (Tyler) Corbitt, Jenna (Tony) Ellerbrock, Craig (Nikki) Recker, Matthew (Ashley) Recker, Samantha (Nick Rohrs) Recker, and Carlee (Lane Rader) Recker, great-grandchildren: Aaliyah Caraballo, Jayla and Tyson Corbitt, Olivia Ellerbrock, Rhett and Harper Recker, and Brookeson and Kohlson Rohrs, and sisters-in-law: Dorothy Kahle and Alice Kahle.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Barb (Larry) Burwell, and in-laws: Len (Anna Rose) Kahle, Paul Kahle, Bill (Alice) Kahle, Don Kahle, and Arthur Kahle.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 4-8 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2021 from 2-8 p.m., and Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
