BRAMWELL JOSEPH "JOE" PIKE, 74, died at 4:06 a.m. June 29, 2006, at his residence. He was born February 4, 1932, in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, Canada, to Norman and Sadie Reid Pike, who preceded him in death. On May 26, 1955, he married Josephine Z. Hyde, who preceded him death. On September 7, 1996, he married Wilma McNeill, who survives. Mr. Pike retired from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, where he volunteered as sacristan. He was a member of the Secular Franciscans and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul and Our Daily Bread Food Pantry. During the Korean War, he worked for the Royal Canadian and United States air forces as chief of the fire department at Goose Bay Air Base, Labrador, Canada. He came to the U.S. in 1955 and became an American citizen in 1995. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, watching the Cincinnati Reds and spending time with his family. Survivors also include three daughters, Donna L. (Keith) Tong of Toledo, Ohio, Carolyn G. Poland of Lima and Bernice M. (Joe) Smith of St. Louis; a son, David W. (Patricia) Pike of Lima, Ohio; six brothers, Aubrey Pike, Ray Pike, Cecil Pike, Clayton Pike , Winston Pike and Doug Pike; four sisters, Hilda Hillier, Ada Higdon, Frances Button and Ruby Williams all of Canada; five stepdaughters, Jacquelyn Logan of Lima, Ohio, Judy (Don) Brackman of Columbus Grove, Ohio, Jane Kingsbery of Lima, Ohio, Janet (Steve) Rowe of Pasadena, Texas, and Jerilyn (Tom) Altenberger of Lake Orion, Michigan; a stepson, Joseph (Diane) McNeill of Columbus, Ohio; 40 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Mahle. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. James McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church, St. Rita's Hospice or the Salvation Army.
