Brett R. Gardner,

29, died at 12:00 PM on Sunday, September 03, 2017, at his residence in Lima, surrounded by family, after a courageous five year battle with brain cancer.

Brett was born on June 3, 1988, in Lima, Ohio to Randy and Kelly (Newland) Gardner. His father preceded him in death. His mother and step-father, Kelly and Don Schneider, both survive in Lima.

Brett was a 2007 Graduate of Elida High School. He graduated with a Bachelors' Degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He worked at Fat Jack's Pizza during his high school years and in sales for the Anheiser-Busch Company in Denver, Colorado. He enjoyed being with friends, listening to music, playing video games and just having a good time. Brett lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by: a twin sister, Brittany (Doug) Hasenkamp, Delphos; brother, Brad Gardner, GA; niece and nephew, Bailey Gardner and Weston Hasenkamp; maternal grandparents, Robert & Candy Newland, Lima; maternal grandparents, Shirley Newland, Lima; a special aunt, Pam Newland, Lima and uncle, Mike (Kim) Newland, Lima. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Ronna Jay, Rod and Garnet Gardner and Greg and Cheryl Gardner.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Ina Gardner and his uncle Steve Gardner.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 7PM on Wednesday, September 6, when a funeral service will be held at 7PM at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

Pastor Terry Ayers will officiate. Entombment of his ashes will be in Memorial Park at a later date.
