Burnetta Moser

Burnetta Moser 97, died at 2:45 p.m. January 23, 2010, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, Ohio. She was born March 13, 1912, in Richland Township, Ohio to Albert and Caroline Niswander Steiner, who preceded her in death. On August 4, 1934, she married Raymond Moser, who died February 8, 1997. They were married for more than 62 years. She had taken vacations all over the United States, spending several winters in Texas and Florida. She was a graduate of Diller School House and Bluffton High School. She attended Bluffton College. She had worked at Bluffton Glove Factory before getting married. She was a life member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and was a member of the Women?s Ministry. She helped on the farm and at Moser?s Butcher Shop during winters, before retiring and traveling. She was an avid quilter, having made more than 150 quilts for children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many being donated to the Mennonite Central Committee during the Kidron Auction, which she enjoyed attending. She was a member of Gideon Auxiliary. She played the piano and violin. Several times, when traveling, she would attend small churches, where she would play the piano. Later, when living at the Mennonite Memorial Home, she would play for the residents, who enjoyed her music, during lunchtime. In 1968, she started memorizing Scripture, at least 38 chapters and 24 Psalms, which she enjoyed repeating many times to whoever would listen. When she was 85, some of her memory work left her, but she could still tell where most everything was found. She enjoyed all the Bible studies at the church with Bill Herr at the Mennonite Memorial Home. She would want to be remembered as someone who loved her Lord with all of her heart and daily prayed for all of her decedents. Following her husband?s retirement, she and her husband traveled all over the U.S., including Alaska and Canada. She and her sister, Olive, daughter, Jeray and son-in-law, Peter, went together to visit the Holy Land. Survivors include six children, Joan (Ross) Wright, of Phoenix, Lou (Mike) Geiger, of Dunkirk, Ohio, Wade (Barbara) Moser, and Larry (Ginny) Moser, both of Columbus Grove, Ohio, Sherlyn (David) Lugibihl, of Bluffton, Ohio, and Jeray (Peter) Torry, of Claremont, Califfornia; 20 grandchildren, Jerad Geiger, of Toledo, Ohio, Kevin (Sheila) White, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Gaylene (David) Schutz, of Dunkirk, Ohio, Michelle (Barney) Strange, of Phoenix, Randal (Cynthia) Geiger, of Dunkirk, Ohio, Christine (David) Winebrenner, of Maineville, Ohio, Dawne (Addie) Courtney, of Harrod, Ohio, Peggy Moser, of Lima, Ohio, Kim (Dennis) Ley, of Coldwater, Ohio, Tamara (Don) Hull, of Kenton, Ohio, JuLee Moser, of Columbus, Ohio, Bart (Joy) Moser and Lynette Bewsey, both of Bluffton, Ohio, Bruce (Cynthia) Moser, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, Cindy (Ronald) Bowsher, of Spencerville, Ohio, and Ken (Diana) Lugibihl, of Bluffton, Ohio, Cherith (Mark) Hager, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Terri (Dan) Goss, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Derek (Kalene) Torry and Dale (Adriene) Torry, both of Claremont, California; and 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Olive Fern Steiner; a granddaughter, Sheri Lugibihl; two great grandsons, Zachary Schutz and Nick Strange; and a brother, Wilbur Steiner. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, Ohio. The Rev. Peter Torry, the Rev. Charles Warren and the Rev. Dick Potter, along with Chaplain Bill Herr, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
