Byrn Derek Henry, 64, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Derek was born on April 12, 1960, in San Diego, California to Edgar Thomas Henry and Mazie I. Freeman. On June 25, 2005, he married Deborah (Bechtel) Henry, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Derek worked at Channel 44 since 2004. He received his bachelor’s from Arkansas State and his MBA from Bluffton. Derek was the Director of Perry’s Lifewise Academy, he loved the Lord, he was a pastor, and active in leadership of every church he had been a member of. He was also a past Master at the Masonic Lodge in Arkansas, and owned Henry Brothers Inc. Limousine Manufactory. His grandsons were the love of his life.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Dagan Henry and Matthew (Jessica) Shumaker; son-in-law, Wes Myers; grandchildren, Isaiah Shumaker, Gus Shumaker, and Evan Myers; sisters, Georgia Nuetzel, Cindy (Terry) Clark, and Rosanna (Maury) Henry- Loket; father and mother-in-law, Jim (Sandy) Bechtel; sister-in-law, Dawn (Mike) Coburn; and brother-in-law, Jim (Gracie) Bechtel Jr.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole Myers; and brother, Edgar (Yuko) Henry.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Pastor Damian Tibbs will officiate
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Christian Ministries.
