CARL WILLIAM AMWEG, 86, died at 7:55 p.m. October 18, 2004, at his residence. He was born June 9, 1918, in Hardin County to Fred and Edna Sloan Amweg, who preceded him in death. On October 15, 1944, he married Martha Jeanne "Marty" Heil, who survives in Lima, Ohio. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Amweg retired as a driver and salesman from Shell Oil Co., after 35 years. He was a member of Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons, the Allen County Scottish Rite Association, the Lima Shrine Club and the Antioch Shrine of Dayton. He was a member and past high priest of Chapter 49 Royal and Arch Masons, member and past illustrious master of Council 20 Royal & Select Masons and a 32nd degree member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19 and the Ohio Farm Bureau. He was instrumental in organizing the Bath Fire Department and was its first treasurer. He was a life member and past president of the Lima Kennel Club and was an American Kennel Club licensed handler judge and judge emeritus. He was an Army veteran serving from August 5, 1941, to October 14, 1945, and had been awarded the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fredrick Amweg; and a sister, Edith H. Wiswell. Services will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where an open Masonic service and Scottish Rite ring service will be held.
