Carl D. Miller,
86, of Lima, Ohio died on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at his residence in Lima, Ohio.
He was born July 29, 1926 in Spencerville to the late Peter and Grace (Elsea) Miller.
Carl married Natividad (Montano) Banaticla, she survives in Lima. He served in the United States Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. He retired from the International Harvester. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and their Holy Name Society; life member of the American Legion Post #191-Spencerville; life member of the VFW Post 6772; Elks Lodge #54-Lima; former member of the Orioles Nest 173-Lima; Eagles Aerie 370-Lima and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #199-Lima. He loved nature, enjoyed fishing and loved riding his motorcycle. He loved helping people and was always donating his time to his friends that needed it. He was highly respected by his close friends especially his Filipino-American friends.
Surviving are sons, Lindsay Miller of Spencerville, OH, Kim "Fuzzy" Miller of Spencerville, OH and Randy (Linda) Miller of Spencerville, OH; step son, Joselito (Dr. Gretchen Ira) Banaticla of Maryland; step daughter, Dr. Jocelyn (Dr. Jeremy Wood) Banaticla-Wood of Baton Rouge, Louisana; grandchildren Angie (Duane) Adams, Ron (Sarah) Miller, Greg (Jennifer) Miller, Heather (Shane) Klingler, Nikki (Frank) Licht, Jessica (Jerry) Poppe, Courtney (Ryan Barry) Miller, Ashley (Daine) Mackey and Tony (Natasha Boyer) Miller step grandchildren, Jaden Wood, Jemma Wood, Genevieve Banaticla, Jaime Banaticla, Alexandra Banaticla; seventeen great-grandchildren, sister Mildred Jane Donovan of St. Mary's, OH. also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul "Butch" Miller, James Miller and Daniel R. "Dick" Miller.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 15, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH, with the VFW Post #6772 and American Legion Post 191 Spencerville will conduct graveside military services.
