Carol June Laman

Carol June Point Laman passed away on October 20, 2023, at 2:25 a.m. at The Springs of Lima.

“June” was born on September 27, 1931, in Lima, Ohio, to the late J. Vernon and Grace E. Roller Point.  Following the death of both parents, June was raised in Spencerville, Ohio by Alpha and Minerva Baber, her uncle and aunt who preceded her in death.

June graduated from Spencerville High School in 1949, where she was in the top of her class.

Carol June and William C. Laman were married on August 21, 1955, in Ada, Ohio, with Bill’s cousin, Rev. Fara Laman officiating.  The couple’s wedding trip was in Northern Michigan, which they cut short in order to attend the Allen County Fair.  They achieved Bill’s dream of building their own home with the help of Bill’s brother-in-law, Clyde Rader, just outside of Elida, Ohio.  They sometimes traveled out of state to visit family and their favorite vacation was in the New England states.  Bill and June raised numerous dogs, who they treated as children.  They were also avid readers.  Bill died on August 27, 2004.

June was employed by the Metropolitan Bank in Lima, Ohio as an accounting officer.  She retired after 36 years of service.  She worked at both Lima locations.

June was also preceded in death by her sister, Violet C. Point Dickman Humphry of Lima, Ohio.

She is survived by cousins: Beverly (Don) Macklin of Spencerville, Ohio, Mary Roller Newton of Lima, Ohio, Garna Richeson of Spencerville, Ohio, and Jayne Stabler of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

June will be missed by many nieces and nephews as well.

June’s family would like to thank the staffs of The Springs of Lima, Mercy Health St. Rita’s, Dr. Jason Hageman, and Dr. Todd Hixenbaugh for their extraordinary care, counsel, and patience for our sweet June.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m.  Rev. John Zerbe will officiate.  Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, Ohio at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Allen County.
