Carol Winkle

Carol Sue (Edmiston) (Waltz) Winkle ,  entered into heavens gates on October 25, 2021 at 7:20 a.m. at Shawnee Manor Surrounded by loved ones.

Carol was born on October 19, 1937 , in Lima, Ohio to Carl and Alice Edmiston who preceded her in death. Carol was a 1955 graduate of Lima South High School. Carol was one of five children and is survived by Phyllis (Charles) Allinger of Miamisburg and Larry (Gloria) Edmiston of Columbus Grove. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ken (Judy) Waltz of Oberlin and brother-in-law Ken Kline of Ada. She was proceeded in death by her sisters Janet Kline and Arlene Wilson as well as brother-in-law Bob Wilson and sister-in-law Joyce (Ed) Bowden.

Carol married Donald Waltz in September of 1957 and Don passed away in December of 1967. Carol married Russel Winkle in May of 1969 and Russ passed away in April of 1992. Carol and Don had three children; Kathleen Waltz of Lima, Richard (Dee) Waltz of Amarillo, TX, and Terri (Brent) Stechschulte of Columbus Grove. Carol and Russel had a son Ronald who passed away in February of 2013. Carol has five granddaughters that were the joy of her life; Rachael (Nick) Olinger of Canton, Allison (Sam) Couchenour of Columbus, Nicole (Chris) Martin of Columbus Grove, Samantha (Dylon) Lause of Bluffton and Stephanie Waltz of Amarillo, TX.

Carol was a professional baker who owned and operated Carol’s Pies and was known to many as “The Pie Lady” as she made the most wonderful pies. She sold them locally to many restaurants and individuals. She was also known as the neighborhood caregiver, providing meals and comfort to those that lived around her. Her care and compassion were hallmarks of who she was. Carol was also a member of Lima Community Church of the Nazarene.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shawnee Manor & Putnam County Hospice for the wonderful care they’ve given Carol.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Thursday October 28, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.   The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huickeriede Funeral Home.  Pastor Brad Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima, Oh.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Putnam County Hospice.
