Carolyn Jane Fisher, 85, died at 10:55p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born March 10, 1929 in Camden, OH, the daughter of Oscar W. and Lucinda C. (Reigle) Taylor, who preceded her in death. On October 20, 1950 she married Richard W. Fisher who died March 1, 1980.
Mrs. Fisher was born in Camden and moved to London, OH when she was in the 8th grade. She was a 1947 graduate of London High School and attended Western Union School in Crawfordsville, IN where she trained to be a teletype operator. She worked for Western Union in offices in Dover and Bowling Green before taking an assignment in Lima in 1949.
Over the years she had been employed by the Laibe License Bureau, Vistron and Marimor Industries before retiring in 1994 from the Allen County Health Department where she had been the deputy registrar. Carolyn had been employed by Siferd Funeral Home from 1981 to 1992 before following Frank Chamberlain to Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where she retired in September after 33 years in the funeral business.
She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church and a past member of Westside United Methodist. She was active with her children while they were in school serving Lincoln Elementary, South Junior High and Lima Senior High School. For many years she was a member of the Iota Sigma Chapter of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority and was active in both mixed-doubles and women's bowling leagues. Carolyn could be found most mornings hanging with the breakfast crew at McDonalds on Cable Road.
She is survived by two sons: Steven A. (Cynthia ) Fisher of Lima and James D. (Rosana) Fisher of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter Peggy A. (Nicholas) Ehora of Lima; six grandchildren: Stephanie (Jeff) Evans, Jodi Davidson, Matthew (Nicole Herr) Ehora, Andrea Fisher, Emily Fisher and Alexander Ehora; three great-grandchildren Lexie, Jake and Kristie Evans; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved dog Gizmo.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Todd Cosart will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
