Catherine Joe McPheron

Catherine J. McPheron “Katie Joe”, 94, passed away at 2:25 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Kingston of Miamisburg, Miamisburg, Ohio with her daughters by her side.

Catherine was born on May 25, 1927 in Lima, Ohio, to Louis and Irene Garner.  On August 30, 1947 she married James A. McPheron; they were together for 71 years until he passed on October 19, 2018.

Catherine was a graduate of St. Rose Catholic School.  She loved to sew and was an avid reader.  She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church.  She lit up the room with her smile and laughter.  She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her four children: Deborah (Michael decd.) Vandivier of Dayton, OH, Tom (Janet) McPheron of Lima, OH, Mary Fredericks of Centerville, OH, and James McPheron Jr. of Lima, OH; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janet (Richard decd.) Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Jane (Fred) Bice and her oldest son, Michael J. McPheron.

The family has decided not to have a service at this time due to Covid 19.  There will be a private service at a later date.  Burial will be at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Central Catholic or St. Gerard Catholic Church..
