CECELIA CHRISTINE KEMPTON, 92, of Duluth, Minnesota, died at 11:40 a.m., October 14, 2006, at her daughter's home. She was born August 30, 1914, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Arthur James and Lillian D. Rich Hase, who preceded her in death. On October 23, 1933, she married Roland Lester Kempton, who died January 28, 1997. Mrs. Kempton attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Elida, Ohio. She was a Cathedral High School graduate. Her father was instrumental in the Superior Airport aviation history. She and her husband's favorite song was "Always." Before her employment at Superior Memorial Hospital, she was a cook in many Duluth and Superior restaurants. While head cook at Superior Memorial Hospital, she, at her own expense, placed a vased rose on the trays delivered to the new patients' rooms when they had their "special supper" before being discharged. Survivors include three sons, William Kempton of Aurora, Illinois, James (Hazel) Kempton of Elida, Ohio, and Lawrence "Butch" (Mary Kay) Kempton of Superior, Wisconsin; three daughters Marjorie (John) Garin of Lima, Ohio, Rose Mary Kempton Hanson of South Range, Wisconsin, and Jean (Don) Wallen of Superior, Wisconsin; 24 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She had 24 sets of five generations. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank Hartman and her three grandsons, pastors Jeff Kempton, Michael Kempton and Donny Garin, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior, Wisconsin.
