Challiss L. ?Bud? Wehrman 90, died at 11:37 a.m. December 7, 2009, at The Ridge at Shawnee. He was born April 14, 1919, in Lima, Ohio to Edwin and Clara Brown Wehrman, who preceded him in death. Mr. Wehrman was a 1938 graduate of Lima South High School. He had been a stock and shipping clerk at Blattner Furniture Store, a bowling pinsetter at the YMCA and a machinist at Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton. He retired from Clark Equipment and had managed several local skating rinks. He moved to Arizona where he worked for Ace Hardware, drove courtesy cars for a Ford dealership, was a janitor for a large company and delivered newspapers in Phoenix. He played Santa Claus at the largest mall in Phoenix for 10 years and at the Lima and American malls in Lima. He retired and then opened and operated Bud?s Sharpening Service for several years. He was a member of Garden City Christian Union Church. He volunteered at Senecaville Hospital and had been a scoutmaster for the Boys Scouts of America. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Mark) Curtis and Deanna Cook, both of Lima, Ohio; and a step grandchild, Mitchell Curtis. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Cook. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chamberl ain-Hucker iede Funeral Home. Pastor Kevin Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
