Charleen "Charlie" Miller Kantner

July 19, 1951 — June 18, 2017

Charleen "Charlie" Miller Kantner age 65 of Van Wert (formerly of Lima) sadly passed away at Parkview Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana at 2:18 PM on Sunday, June 18th, 2017, holding the hands of her children. We can only guess since it was Father's Day that Charleen wanted to surprise her "dad" as she loved and missed him dearly. She couldn't have picked a better day.
Our mom was born to Gordon Eugene Kantner and Margret Viola Wilson on July 19th, 1951, at Riverside Hospital in Toledo OH. Both parents precede her in death.
Our mom was a feisty woman who always told you exactly how it was even if you didn't want to hear it. She was an avid lover of sports. Her favorite teams were the Cleveland Browns, OSU, and the Yankees. She loved "game days" and would wear her team colors and support whoever played that day and talk endless amounts of smack while they did play. Win or lose, she stuck with her teams to the end as she did with everyone else in life that she loved.
She was generous to a fault and could never say "no" to anyone in need. In her final moment she still gave, as her cornea and retina were donated to give two people sight.
Our mom loved her animals and they loved her back in return. She has a fat cat named Abby and an even fatter dog named Coco.
She was a bartender at Orioles Nest 173 where she worked for many years... showing up day after day to torture people. She was either the life of the party or she was crashing it depending on how she felt that day. Chances are if you knew her, she cussed you out a time or ten. She always spoke her mind and would leave people speechless, a trait that we inherited honestly. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly... and would take each child on separate "special" trips to Wal-Mart and they would get lost for hours. She had to look at everything... twice.
She could bring any plant back to life no matter how many times we "forgot" about it. One trait we were not lucky enough to inherit.
She has four children: Michelle L. Kantner, mother of Chattick Thompson, Mikata Thompson, and Kurik Kantner, Dion (Alisha) Kantner, father of Diadra Joy Kantner, Keirsten Kantner, Dion Joesph Kantner Jr., Coral, Venus, Elijah, and Isabella, and six great grand kids, Rudika L. Lane, mother of Jaleigh Lane Bear, who is currently pregnant with our mom's first great grand baby. Sadly, she was unable to meet and it leaves us devastated. Jaleigh Lane will be naming her first baby Charlie as an honor to her grandma who so wanted to meet her first baby, and Travis Gordon Kantner, father of Makaela Goedde.
She leaves behind a sister Jesse Cortez and a brother Johnathon Kantner. Step sisters Donna, Jeanette, Charlene, Dorothy, and Todd Simpson.
They will always remember her and hold her close to their hearts. She has many friends that have showed their love for our mom over the past few days and have reminded us how loved she was and how truly missed she will be.
There will be a memorial service for her on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 2:00PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, OH. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.chamberlainhuckeriede.com.
