Charles E. Brogee, 92, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at his home in Lima.
Charles was born on January 6, 1933, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Alfred Daniel and Ruth Ethel (Smith) Brogee. On October 28, 1978, he married Donelda “Dolly” J. (Snider) Brogee, who preceded him in death on August 25, 2021.
Charles was a 1951 graduate of Lima South High School and attended OSU. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 1953 – Feb. 1955. He was a supervisor for Ohio Power Co. for 39 years before retiring in 1995. Charles was a Life Member of BPO Elks #54, a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fraternal Order of Police, Allen County & Ohio Genealogical Society, First Families of Allen County, Allen County Historical Society, and AEP (Ohio Power) Veterans Association where he was State President in 1986.
He is survived by his daughters, Darla (Ron) Dixon of Celina, OH, and Diane (Mitch) Bell of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: April Wendel of Celina, OH, Savanna (James) Steffen of Silverdale, WA, Alexis (Jovian) Yoh of Medford, NJ, and Eric Dixon of Celina, OH; Great-grandchildren: Chloe (Ryan) Good of Worthington, OH, Skye Wendel of Celina, OH, Alex, Noah and Brady Steffen of Silverdale, WA; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Bell; step-grandchildren: Meredith (David) Harrison, Morgan (Guy) Andrews, Melissa Smithson, and Ryan Myers.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Clay; and a brother, Jackie Brogee.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 4 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Lay-Minister David Belton will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Historical Society.
