Charles Edwin Ellis, 90, died at 1:25 p.m. January 19, 2009, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Delphos, Ohio. He was born March 12, 1918, in Lafayette, Ohio to Harry P. and Myrtle I. Osborn Ellis, who preceded him in death. On July 3, 1938, he married Roweena ?Rosie? Conrad, who died October 26, 1987. On May 5, 1988, he married Betty Nungester Seyer, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Ellis had been a plumber and pipe fitter for Interstate Gas Co., for 28 years, and had been a plumber at Walt Disney World for 12 years. He attended Rousculp Church of Christ. He was a 62-year member and past master of Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons. He was a member of Chapter 49 Royal Arch Masons, Commandery 14 Knights Templar, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, American Legion Post 96, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, serving from March 13, 1943, to February 6, 1946, in the western Pacific Theater. Survivors also include two sons, David W. (Lynette) Ellis, of Elida, Ohio, and Duane (Patty) Ellis, of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Tirzah Beall, of Lima, Ohio; a stepson, Barry L. (Mary) Seyer, of Bluffton, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Susan K. (Richard) Frymyer, of Lima, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kristina Ellis, of Dayton, Ohio, Shay Ellis, of Lynchburg, Virginia, Angela Beckman, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Annie Ellis, of Columbus, Ohio; six great-grandchildren , Alanna Stewart, Alicia Maldonado, Gave Maldonado, Hanna Beckman, Madison Ellis and Austin Ellis; two step grandchildren , Natalie Burwell, of Columbu, Ohio, and Rebecca Burwell, of Santa Rosa, California; seven step great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Carl (Joanne) Neu, of Harrod, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis Harold Seyer; a brother, Carroll O. Ellis; and two sisters, Tirzah E. Stager and Dona Sharpe. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
