Charles J. Stevens

Charles J. Stevens , 82, of Westminster.OH, died at 4:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Lost Creek Care Center in Lima, Ohio.

Charles was born on Friday, January 30, 1931, in Spencerville, Ohio, to the late Jesse Stevens and Dorothy [Thomas] Stevens. On June 30, 191 he married Shirley Ann Bastin and she survives.

He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1991 after 36 1/2 years. He was a member of Ford UAW. He was a 50 year member of Garrett Wycoff Lodge #585 F&AM - Lima Chapter, a 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite - Valley of Dayton. Lima Chapter #49 R.A.M., Lima Council #20 R &S.M. Eastern Star - Lafayette, Life member of VFW Post #1275 and served on the burial detail. He was also a member of American Legion Post #96, Eagles Aerie 370, Lima and the Korean Veterans Association. He spent countless hours of volunteering for the Boy Scouts. He was the past president of the Allen East Athletic Boosters - spending countless hours volunteering. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended Westside Church of Christ, Lima.

Surviving are four sons; Darrell L. (Janie),Smith of Fairfield, OH, Steven L. Smith of Bowling Green, KY, Jeffrey L. Smith of Hamilton, OH and Gregory L. (Melanie) Stevens of Columbus, OH; a daughter Judy K. Wireman of Lima, OH; ten grandchildren; six brothers and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by a son James L. Stevens and a grandchild Brett Beggs.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Masonic Services conducted by Garrett Wycoff Lodge #585, F&AM and a Scottish Rite Ring Service will be held following visitation at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Horton officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio where VFW Post #1275 will conduct graveside services.
