Charles Bishop Walters, 92, died at 1:18 p.m. June 17, 2010, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born February 8, 1918, in Boswell, Indiana, to Charles B. and Dessie Fay Walters Sr., who preceded him in death. On December 1, 1945, he married Iola ?Pat? Smith, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Walters was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church, Lima. He was a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, both in Lima. He enjoyed bowling, golf and camping. For more than 20 years, he and his wife had a winter home in Mission, Texas, where they enjoyed western square dancing. He graduated from Boswell High School and attended Purdue University. He retired from Teledyne Ohio Steel after 30 years of service. He previously worked for 15 years for U.S. Steel Corp., in Gary, Indiana. Survivors also include a daughter, Paulette ?Polly? Anderson, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Dorette (Al) Morehouse, of Muscatine, Iowa; and four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynda Jean; a son, Charles Edward; a brother, Robert Walters; and a sister, Frances Crumbaugh. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Derek Russell and the Rev. Larry Hopkins will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where an Elks Lodge Sorrow Service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday.
