CHERYL A. BRITT WHITE, 53, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, formerly of Lima, Ohio, died February 2, 2007. She was born July 4, 1953, in Lima, Ohio to James D. and Jane Shaw Britt. Her father survives in Lima, Ohio. Her mother preceded her in death. She married Nelson White, who survives in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Mrs. White was a teacher and assistant principal at Rocky Mount Preparatory School, Battleboro, North Carolina, where she started teaching when it first opened in 1997 as the Rocky Mount Charter School. She was promoted to assistant principal in 2003. She was a graduate of Lima Senior High School and received her bachelor's degree in education from The Ohio State University. News of her death sent shock waves through the school, where her daughter also works as an art teacher.?She?s always just about the first one here in the morning, so I knew something was wrong when she wasn?t here when I got to school, ?said Nancy Murry, principal for the elementary school and White?s friend for a decade. The two started teaching at Rocky Mount Prep when it first opened in 1997 as the Rocky Mount Charter School. Murray was promoted to principal in 2003 requested that White be named assistant principal. ?She was like a sister to me; we?ve been together so long.? Murray said. ?She was absolutely dedicated to the school, the students and the teachers. Survivors also include two daughters, Carrie (Patrick) Morningstar, of Nashville, North Carolina and Laurel Summer White, of Boston; two grandchildren, Molly Morningstar and Liam Morningstar, both of Nashville, North Carolina; three sisters, Cindy (Don) Farrar, of Delphos, Ohio, Diana (Raymond) Woods, of Lima, Ohio, and Carol (Tim) Andrews, of Delphos, Ohio; and a brother, Terry (Marsha) Britt, of Island Lake, Ill. Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Linda Hoover will officiate.
