Clara Black

CLARA A. BLACK, 99, died at 5:20 a.m. Aug. 1, 2005, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf. She was born Dec. 14, 1905, in Ottawa to Herman and Katherine Bochers Recker, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 17, 1929, she married Lou Black, who died Oct. 2, 1982. Mrs. Black retired as comptroller from Artkraft, Lima. She was also the developer of the Black Subdivision in Lima. She was secretary/treasurer of Northland Senior Bowlers and was district representative for the Women's International Bowling Congress. She was a member of the Lima Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of Lima Public Schools and attended Putnam County Normal School and Ohio Northern University. Survivors include two sisters, Blanch Hovest of Ottawa and Florence Patterson of Bowling Green; her special caregivers, her nephew William (Esther) Recker of Glandorf and her great-niece, Linda (Dr. Ron) Black of Ottawa; and several other great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry C. Recker; and a sister, Gertrude DeVore. Services will begin at 2 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Father James McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.
