Lima CLARENCE ROBERT "JUNIOR" HELMIG, 67, died at 6:53 p.m. May 5, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born June 24, 1937, in Lima to Clarence G. and Marguerite Maxwell Helmig, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 8, 1962, in Lima, he married Carol Grubenhoff, who survives. Mr. Helmig worked in small parts and as a machine operator at Ford Motor Co., retiring in 1992 after 32 1/2 years. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1219. After retiring, he co-owned Jones and Helmig Small Motor Repair. He served in the Navy from June 1955 to June 1958. He was a 1955 graduate of Lima St. John's High School. He went to Ike's for breakfast three days a week, loved to travel, and loved to spoil his grandchildren. Survivors also include a son, Brian (Michelle) Helmig of Lima; five daughters, Paula (Brett) Duebner of Belgium, Wis., Pamela (Dominic) Alessandro of Cleveland, Jacqueline (Michael) Blosser and Becky Helmig, both of Lima, and Beverly Dailey of Millers Creek, N.C.; three brothers, Ralph "Bud" (Janet) Helmig of Long Island, N.Y., and Edward (Joann) Helmig and Tom (Lois) Helmig, both of Lima; a sister, Mary (Dick) Wetzel of Laura; and 11 grandchildren, Corinna Dailey, Erica Blosser, Rachael Dailey, Christopher Blosser, Adam Duebner, Tori Helmig, Nicolas Dailey, Jared Duebner, Conner Knippen, Drew Alessandro and Karlee Helmig. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Helmig, and a sister, Cecilia Helmig. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
